Janet has been in practice in Llanelli for over 25 years. She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London and worked in Sussex before moving to Wales.

She has a keen interest in Cardiology and enjoys helping work out complex medical cases. Janet has her own dogs, cats, horses and chickens mostly rescue cases of some sort! In her spare time she loves to ride when time permits, hacking and ‘trying’ to do dressage she says which she is actually very good winning numerous awards.

She also enjoys spending time with her very naughty terrier Rupert and Sawen her crooked eared German Shepherd.

Susie Ackroyd

Susie graduated from Liverpool University in 2008 and joined the Haven family in 2009.
Susie was able to build a strong veterinary foundation at Haven and jumped at the opportunity of becoming a partner in 2014.

This had always been a dream of Susie’s and allowed her to generate a practice where all pets are met with the care and treatment she would expect for her own animals in a personal way.

Whilst developing the practice, Susie also studied a further two years to gain a certificate in small animal surgery which allowed her to gain a higher level of confidence in this field. Her interest in eye conditions grew further as a result and has recently begun performing some complex eye surgeries.

In her spare time Susie enjoys running and mountain biking with her two dogs, beautiful Belle and big boy Murphy!

Karen qualified in 1996 from Liverpool University. She initially worked in mixed practice for 10 years dealing with a range of animals and even rescued a seal on Gower at one point!

After this Karen solely dealt with small animals developing a keen interest in skin conditions over the last 5 years. This led her to pursue a European Certificate in Dermatology in 2012.

Karen enjoys gardening, outward bound pursuits with her dog, motorcycling
and barbecues!

Lisa started at Haven in October 2019, after graduating from Ghent University in Belgium. She has an interest in oncology, and enjoys working up medical cases. Outside of work she enjoys going for hikes, or staying in to cuddle with her cat and read a good book.

Hannah qualified from RVC, London and has worked in Wales ever since. Hannah enjoys surgery and has pursued further training and gained additional qualifications in this area. Hannah also enjoys mentoring less experienced colleagues. Outside of work she loves to be outdoors and is kept busy with her family and dog Twts.

Hannah started work at Haven in 2003 where she pursued her training. She qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2006 and since has progressed to Head Nurse where she is responsible for overseeing the training and monitoring of all our nurses.

Recently Hannah has been involved in team leading involving co-ordinating daily nurse clinics and weekly puppy parties along with some office based work. Hannah has a keen interest in the management of wounds which led to her seek further training in this area allowing her to develop skills in minor wound surgery.

Hannah is a welsh speaker. Her spare time is spent with her two beautiful children and Topper her pony of 20+ years.

Ffion has been with the nursing team since 2004. She became a qualified veterinary nurse in 2017. She enjoys anatomy and physiology and so loves to be involved in different types of surgery. She is a welsh speaker and her interests outside of work involve exploring the great outdoors and finding new walks with her adorable rescue dog Joey.

Ffion has recently given birth to a beautiful baby girl and we look forward to welcoming her back after maternity leave this summer!

Rhian trained with us at Haven and became a qualified registered veterinary nurse in 2018. She is a welsh speaker and has a keen interest in dogs and their behaviour.

Rhian has three young children which occupies quite a lot of her time, but when she can find some spare time she enjoys taking her Collie Mali out and about for long walks.

Cari is a student veterinary nurse and has been with us since 2016. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing especially taking care of our feline patients and any stray animals that maybe brought in. Cari herself has given many of these stray animals a home!

She is very dedicated to animal welfare. On her days off she enjoys finding new places to take her dog Max out on

Moira Roberts
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Moira joined the Haven team in February 2021 as a student veterinary nurse and has since qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse gaining a degree in Veterinary Nursing. Moira has lived in Germany, Canada and all over the UK, and still loves to travel whenever she can. At home she has two cats, Nala and Summer and a cavalier king Charles spaniel called riley. She loves exploring the Pembrokeshire coastal path with Riley and the other historical sites and castles in the area.

Floss joined our team in 2017 as a receptionist and has now started her nursing training. Apart from spending a lot of her free time studying and renovating her new home, she enjoys taking her busy dog Luca to explore new places.

Lynn joined Haven in 2018. She loves meeting new clients that visit us with their beloved pets. Lynn has always wanted to work with animals since a young girl, keen to help make a positive difference to an animal’s life.

At home Lynn has two rabbits and three loveable Labradors not to mention a tank full of tropical fish. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, exploring historical places and fun days out.

Debbie joined our reception team in 2003, her enthusiasm demonstrated within this role led her to progress to Head Receptionist. As a key member of our team Debbie was offered the role of Client Care Manager in 2020 which we thought she would jump at and she did!

Her passion lies with ensuring that a unique, personal experience is delivered to our valued clients throughout their special journey their best friends.

Outside of work Debbie spends time with her husband Matty and three children. Her love for fitness keeps her busy! She has climbed Snowdon and is aiming to accomplish this again for local charities.

Ann has worked with us playing a big part of the reception team for almost 24 years. This has allowed her to develop long lasting relationships with our clients. Ann follows her son in football and a lot of her time now is taken up with visiting her grandson Mason.

Gaynor started working in Haven in January 2019 as a Receptionist.

Gaynor loves having her daily smooth fix every day with all the beautiful dogs & cats that come through the door, and hearing their owners’ stories about them!

At home Gaynor has a gorgeous boy Tristan (T-Dog for short) who is a rescue Chihuahua X Dachshund! He’s a quirky little character who makes everyone laugh (he’s an exceptionally good cuddler!)

Gaynor lives with her fiance Clint who has 5 children of his own and who will be becoming Gaynor’s stepchildren next year. She also has her own 18 year old son Leon who is studying his A Levels & is a Cub leader in Llanelli.

In her spare time Gaynor loves watching movies, listening to music, having fun with the kids, making jewellery & crafting.

Fran started work at Haven in 1996 as a receptionist. During her time with us she has progressed to Office Manager facilitating all the day to day tasks. Fran is married with two children and one new grandson. She has a crazy Labrador named Keano who loves nothing better than swimming in the sea, that was until he ate a jelly fish and became quite unwell!
Fran has moved recently to the country which allows Keano to be kept away from tasty jelly fish and he now enjoys long woodland walks!
Fran is a marvellous cook and in her spare time she loves to bake and quite often will bring us all in some cakes to try.

Lisa has worked at our Ammanford surgery since 2011. Lisa is now working in the morning over in Ammanford and ensures all our clients are happy and receive a high standard of service.

Lisa has two dogs, Wolfie a chowxstaff who is the most laid back dog you could have and Patch a jack Russellxstaff who suffers a lot with separation anxiety. We have worked well with Patch over the years and as a result have cured his anxiety.

Ruth Davies

Ruth has worked at Haven since 2016, but has been a client for well over 20 years. Ruth is a Mum of 2 boys, Grandmother to a little boy and girl, and is totally besotted with them! Ruth owns a dog and 3 cats who are all beautiful rescues from Llys Nini. She absolutely loves animals, both domestic and wildlife.

In her spare time Ruth likes to walk, read, listen to music and watch TV – favourite programme being Match of the Day. Ruth is very passionate about football (watching not playing!) supporting Liverpool for almost 50 years, and follows the fortunes of her “home” team Cardiff City.

Joined the team in August 2021 as a receptionist.
Worked within the animal industry for the last 8 years, gaining lots of experience.
I have a 4 year old fur baby called Tia who is a beautiful Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I enjoy going on adventures with Tia and my partner, finding new places to explore and travel to.
I also have furry small animals – 1 rabbit called poppy and 3 Guineas pigs; Rosemary, Basil and Jasmine who are very noisy when they know it’s food time.
